Prototype modeling bridges the gap between software and "brochure-ware"
An Eric Frantz White Paper
EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW
Achieving Best In Class status or other goals requires solutions that enable a transition from the current capabilities. Typically, the solutions are costly, time consuming, and risky. Providers of process improvement, software, and equipment present PowerPoints, espousing the conceptual benefits and experiences of other clients. The prospect has expectations of meeting or exceeding their goals based on this "brochure-ware". Verification of success usually comes at the end of implementation, or later. This may be too late.
While "brochure-ware" falls short of ensuring success, waiting for full implementation is not satisfactory either. The most productive approach is to develop prototypes along the way that test assumptions and business changes, prove concepts, and allow team members and management to visualize the resultant processes.
